Council CCTV Shared Service Celebrates Accreditation Achievement

The Huntingdonshire District Council and Cambridge City Council CCTV Shared Service is celebrating its achievement of securing three sector-specific service accreditations.

The Shared Service is now accredited in:

ISO 900-2015 – this is an internationally-recognised standard that focuses on the operational management and working of the control room, including finance, Human Resources and ensuring quality standards.

BS7958: Control Room Management and Operations – this is a high-level certification of British Standard compliance. The inspection for accreditation required the Shared Service to display that all forms of audit and compliance are followed and transparent with public access. The inspection also includes Security Industry Authority licencing, screening, vetting, audit, staff training and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance.

Surveillance Cameras Commissioners Code of Compliance – this accreditation is compliance set out by the commission of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and gives a level of compliance to the 12 guarding principles, Freedoms Act and Data Protection Act.

The Shared Service CCTV Team worked with an external audit advisor for 7 months to secure the three accreditations, including being inspected to the highest scrutiny by a Home Office assigned inspection body. The accreditations provide sector-recognised confirmation that the service is being managed to a nationally and internationally recognised professional standard and ensure trust that operators and management deliver the service under strict control and process images in a timely and correct manner.

Executive Councillor for Leisure, Waste and Street Scene for Huntingdonshire District Council, Cllr Simone Taylor, said: "We are really pleased to have confirmation that the CCTV Shared Service has achieved all three of the accreditations that it was working so hard towards over the past year. The achievement of these accreditations shows that the service is performing at the highest possible standard and providing real value locally in Huntingdonshire and across wider Cambridgeshire.

"The service continues to move from strength to strength in becoming a real asset for the District Council. As one of the few local authority CCTV control rooms to reach this standard we are extremely proud."
